The current world of music is full of bands which sing exclusively in English. Often, when you turn on the radio you will often find yourself listening to commercial pop. It is the same thing everyday: boring and monotonous! Do you get the impression that you can only listen to music in English? What’s happening with the Spanish singers? Where are they? If you want to enjoy the best in Spanish music, come to Barna Sants Festival (the festival of the Catalan singers).
For many music lovers Barcelona is a paradise, because it has both famous and anonymous singers. It is a festival especially made for Spanish non commercial music that will take place in different stages and clubs around Barcelona. The Barna Sants Festival has earned a great reputation since it began in 1995 in the Sants’ neighbourhood. It was inaugurated by Rafa Pons, a young street poet who has infused energy into the event. Nowadays, it is one of the most important festivals of independent music in Spain.
The Festival, directed by Pere Camps, offers a wide range of concerts, moving through various musical styles. This way, it joins consecrated singers with inexperienced ones.
